Great quality for half the price!
I was initially skeptical about getting an after-market part for such an old gun. But I decided to take my chances since it was so cheap and I was definitely impressed. Now let me be the first to say if you think you're just going to take a little nail file for 5 minutes and fit this you might want to look elsewhere. I have the Chinese version of the SKS with an aftermarket stock and it took me quite a while to get this to fit correctly but in the end it was all worth it! Just don't file too much material off, I can't stress that enough. Go little by little until you get a snug fit and you will be satisfied! I also highly recommend their scope mount too, i did both at the same time and my Sks looks like a completely different gun!I was initially skeptical about getting an after-market part for such an old gun. Good quality. Not for my rifle
The quality was great on this thing from what i could see and feel. I have an sks m with 16 inch barrel. I guess it has shorter gas tube. Would not work because of this. Wish they would inform that. I gave it to my friend since i sold him my full length sks. Hope he likes it.

Excellent Replacement Option
The file-to-fit may seem like a pain but its really a plus, as it allows you to get the tightest fit possible. I suggest removing the rail from the gas tube to prevent nicks in the rail finish. Also, start with the bottom side of the tube ( where it drops into the sight base ) and try to get the gap in between the barrel and the tube even from front to back first, then do the top part for the locking lever on the sight assembly. This way when you install the stock, the gap will be even or non existent between the stock and rail. If you do the top first and then the bottom, you may end up taking too much off and the unit may end up loose or you wont be able to use your fixed sights because the rail will be too high in the back. Crooked as the day is long
These are are a rehashed version of their original tube, utilizing the same tubes, with the rail being new...the problem is, these were drilled crooked in the first place, neither of the mounts are straight on them...I have purchased four NC Star tubes....all of them are like this. Other people I know have had the same problems too. If you don't plan on using an optic on it...it sure looks cool. If you don't mind the rail being quite visibly crooked...it sure looks cool. Another thing to be wary of, is of the four of these that I have...each of them is a different length. So it may or may not fit your gun with the rail removed it might be too short. These are a good option if you remove the rail and use a quad rail over them. If you can live without having any handguard at all, and just ... There also is an issue with some of the tubes being over sized in diameter, not causing enough resistance to the gases, and not cycling the gun at all...or only partially...which can be dangerous. There is a reason these were pulled from the market a couple of years ago. I have an abnormal amount of SKSs and I have tried these on most of them. Probably a 25% chance of success in cycling...zero success in getting rails level. If you think those adjustment screws will correct the problem, they won't...they bend easily and mar up your rear sight block. If anything, they twist the rail and make it unusable as well. It is a real bummer because these are the coolest looking gas tubes ever for the SKS...if only they worked.

Don't hesitate
I've been looking for a "scout" style scope base for my paratrooper for some time now. This mount was even better than I expected. It's heavy duty and had just a few minutes of filing to make it fit very solidly. Durable and of good quality.
