If you are a restorer of rifles, want to know if the Winney you just bought is as represented and all correct, or are just interested in learning about Gramps or Great Grandads rifle, this book will give you a part by part description of what it should be. While not the kind of work that will engulf your day, it is very interesting reading for the lever gun lover. While there are loftier works out there, inches thick, this book cuts to the point, while still having room for the little anecdotes that give this hobby the range of interest that continues to bring people into it. I only wish Mr. Pirkle had such a work for the 1897 and 1912/Model 12 shotguns, to round out the most popular Winchesters on the smoothbore side.
