This Bolt Buffer from Volquartsen is an absolute must-have for every Ruger 10/22 out there. As an avid shooter and firearm enthusiast, I've seen a lot of low quality aftermarket junk, but Volquartsen is beyond reproach. The quality of their parts (of which I have several in my personal 10/22s) is top quality, and a great value. I've compared them to KIDD products and find that the quality of both are equally excellent. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to pick up another one of these buffers for my next 10/22 build.

In order to install this product, you have to remove the original OEM stainless steel pin, then you have to install this product in its place. This product is like a small section of a hot glue stick, only stronger. With some effort, because of very tight tolerances, you can hammer it through one hole. The problem is hammering it through the second hole. This product tends to bend rather than make it through the second hole. No instructions came with the product to advise customers how to accomplish this feat. I used the original OEM pin and a hammer to force this product into place...and it’s still not all of the way through the second hole. In looking at the competing products, in hindsight, I think I would have made a better choice to purchase the buffer with a stainless steel inner core and an exterior which is of a softer material (for the recoil buffer characteristic). The competing products would be easier to install, at least to the extent that they would not bend. However, I would imagine that the softer material in those competing products would tend to squish rather than make it through the second hole. The “perfect” product would be a stainless steel pin, like the factory OEM pin, with the outer diameter shaved down 3/16 of an inch, only in the middle area inside of the receiver, excluding the length of the pin on both sides of the pin, which is necessary to fit snugly within the holes of the receiver. Lets just say the depth of the hole in the receiver is a 1/4 inch. That means the pin has an OD on each end that is 1/4 inch long, then the OD reduces by 3/16 of an inch. Why? To allow for a softer material to take its place. This would allow easy installation while also serving the intended purpose of this product: to reduce recoil. Read full review

Kind if expensive for what it is, but it works. It softens the bolt's rearward impact in the receiver while eliminating the OEM steel pin's bashing against the aluminum receiver. This is the new version. The old version was clear and very soft, making installation a pain. This one is black and more rigid, with beveled ends, making for a much easier installation.

This product is garbage, made with the week material. Tolerance is too tight item scarfed in the end scarred trying to Lightly install. Better brands on the market.

Very well made and works well. Tricky to install but this insures that it will stay in place.
