I have had stainless steel rods and they work....but not as well as this one. The Tipton rods are some of the best you can buy and are highly recommended as they are made from carbon fiber which does not damage the barrel like a stainless rod can and sometimes does. The Tipton rod remains straight and handles bending force well. The threads for the cleaning devices are of high grade brass which will not damage barrels. The handles on the Tiptons are well designed and make gun cleaning easier. When it comes time to clean my guns, only Tiptons will I use. These rods are well worth the extra money and will last almost forever. If you are thinking of getting a Tipton, just do it. You won't regret it one bit.

These are a bit expensive initially, but the quality is worth it. After you pay the price you get to enjoy the quality long term, and the price will be forgotten. I've been using 3 caliber diameters for a few years now 17, 22 and 30 cal, and all are still in perfect shape with a lot of use, so they last.

this is a quality product. spins in the lands and grooves very smoothly, and the carbon rod is very stiff. The 36" rod is the perfect size for my M9130. Clears the end of the barrel by 15mm.
