This vise block really does lock the upper in securely with no need for a bolt fill block. The take down pin hole location was slightly off and needed some minor round filing to get one of the lock down pins to go through. The directions are very clear about only using the vise in a vertical position for light work on trigger group and such. I got ahead of myself and started to tighten barrel nut without moving the block to the recommended position and one of the locking holes fractured and rendered that one useless, (all on me, I got in a hurry). All in all, a very good product. Used correctly it will last as long as you need it. Even with the loss of one lock-in hole it will work as well as it is designed to work.

I’ve been using a clam shell type of upper receiver holder to install barrels. This feels more secure and there is zero movement between the holder and receiver. Wish I would have found this years ago. I’m going to pick up some of their other items.

It works as designed. At first the upper receiver would not fully seat on it because the bolts of the non milspec handguard was on the way by a few mm. Super easy to trim the no-mar. Now it fits perfectly. If there was one thing to change, if the makers could design it so that the no-mar bottom and top rail support be attached together when not in use so they don't get misplaced during storage. Im thinking of drilling a hole on both pieces and using the receiver pins to keep them together.

Used it to help remove a seized barrel nut when installing a free float handguard. Left no marks on my upper and held tight. Perfect material for a vice block unlike cheap Chinese made clam type.

I have a standard military vise block, but it doesn't work with a couple of billet uppers that are more angular. This set works great on those unusual uppers. However, after one use the plastic has visible marring where the vise damaged the blocks. This isn't a huge problem, these blocks aren't that expensive that they are a burden to replace, and they'll last for a lot of use before they do need replacing. I'd much rather sacrifice the blocks than damage an upper any day. I like them so much I'll probably use them for all my uppers instead of the military ones, I think these hold the upper more securely.
