every bit as good as sights that are two-three times the price
I am really impressed with how far UTG has come in the past several years. The fit and finish on these are great, very easy to adjust and they hold zero on both my 5.56 and 300BLK platforms. These are not spring loaded but they lock in well in both positions. The sight picture is great and these sights will be my go to for all future and past builds. Despite some complaints in other reviews about the plastic bearings, I like this feature, it does not wear the finish to produce that little stripe as others do and provides smooth and quiet operation while still locking the sights firmly in place, as some may be aware certain plastics are actually better for these applications due to wear and abrasion resistance. These are aluminum and very light weight and they look quite nice, not as chunky or blocky as others. I have used everything from $3 made in China sights up to Magpul Pro and Troy and everything in between, and although I love the high end sights I really don't feel that they confer any advantage or better performance than these. save some $$ and get these if you are looking for reliable quality flip up Irons. I know many people look for specifics in these reviews so these sights have been used for off hand and bench rest/bipod out to 300 meters. have fired well over 1K rounds with these on both DI and Piston platforms with barrels ranging from 14.7 to 20". I typically mount the rear as far back as possible and the front as far forward as my rails will allow to achieve the maximum sight radius. I have used the rear in conjunction with the standard F marked front sight/gas block and did not have any problems zeroing. I have also incorporated these with other sighting systems and had no problems with co-witnessing. Read full review

Not Bad, Could use some Improvement
For the price the UTG MNT955 rear sight is a decent buy as I like the aircraft grade aluminum construction which should be able to take more abuse then ones made of plastic. But the overall fitting leaves a few things to be desired, first all moveable items such as the flip up arm and the peep sight have a lot of play with minimal tension which means even slight bumps or the recoil of larger calibers 7.62x39 and up can knock these areas out of alignment. Second they claim the finish is Matte Black which is not even close, these sights are shinny almost reflexive black which does not match mil-spec upper receivers on most AR forward rails. While I understand these sights are not Tier 1 equipment and are manufactured at a low price point I would suggest UTG enlarge the locking pins diameter which locks the flip up arm into the up-right position to remove play and slop. Next I would give this sight a true MATTE black finish which would match most AR upper receivers in color. So in closing if your looking for a range queen or pinking sight which will not see any real/serious use then I rate the UTG MNT955 at 5 stars due to its cost and construction but if your intended use is for hunting or self defense I would suggest you pay a few more dollars and purchase a higher quality piece of gear. I absolutely love everything UTG puts out. I've bought their scopes, handguards, foregrips, red dot...... now these! Easily one of the BEST yet relatively unheard of AR accessory companies. 10/10 would buy these aluminum sights over plastic Magpuls. Sturdy lock up, rear sight dial turns easy but clicks very positive. They do NOT automatically pop up, you have to push them up. This is not a problem. If you have to reach to push a button you can just as easily push the unit. If you're all like... "But muh tacticool appearance...." Nah. You think you're so OpR8r FoRReAL that you'll be in a fire fight and just *pop* your sights up??? GetOuttaHere with that airsoft nonsense. Take cover pop your sights get back in the fight. If you don't have time for that then get fixed sights. Turns out UTG makes a bad@$$ pair of front/rear fixed sights too!! Seriously great sights for the money. The look good too, kinda sleek. Other companies should take note that UTG is putting it high quality products at great low prices. Jus'sayin'.Read full review

Better than expected!
I bought this for a lightweight hunting rig I put together. I can't stand not having a BUIS on a scoped AR but I didn't want to spend a bunch for something that may never get used. The reviews all seemed positive so i bought it and I'm glad I did. It mounted well and lays flat on the rail. Flips up easily and stays put when shooting. Got it zeroed in no time. Good value for your money.
