This bore light is nice and slim being only marginally larger in diameter than a AAA battery. The button switch on the end seems to have a positive, on / off click (so far). In the past (like decades ago) when these bent lucite sticks appeared with a (then) traditional “pen light”, they were quite useful as a small, convenient flash light also. That is NOT the case with this bore light IMO. In these times it is peculiar to find a light that casts anything but a bright white light (unless) it is sold as NOT being bright white. The effectiveness this light as a “flashlight” is questionable UNLESS you need a yellowish cast light. Now as a bore light, I found nothing wrong or critical of the yellowish cast light. PS - Fresh Batteries TOO!

You get what you pay for, the push button that activates the light broke on the second use so I have to slam it on the floor to activate the light. Save your money and buy a nicer one. I trusted the name because of the great oil they make but the bore light missed the mark greatly. Hoppes, if you see this, upgrade the light with more durable material(s) and I will be more than happy to pay the additional costs. P.S. I still love your gun oil and will remain an avid endorser of that, just not the light lol

This is an excellent product...primarily for hunters and hobby shooters. It enables one to quickly evaluate the condition of the of the various chambers and rifling. It is particularly useful to me as I load/shoot large caliber cast lead bullets in both revolvers and rifles. Lead buildup in the barrel can become potentially dangerous if it proceeds unobserved. Thanks to this nifty little borelight from Hoppe's, I am able to head off any barrel problems before something goes really wrong.

SINCE YOU ASKED! Ordered 2 of these items recently. Both came at the same time. One was a plastic housing with a cheap plastic band to keep the light on. Real junk, as you can see from the picture. The other one had an aluminum housing and a nice on on/off switch. If it was if wasn't for the hassle and shipping cost the plastic one would have been returned. I now have one nice item at twice the cost. Andy B.

Works, not an LED, has detachable fiber (plastic) 90 deg. When I first turned it on I thought it wasn't very bright, but looking down a bore it is very bright. Needs AA batteries.
